Over 200 households in Ikot Mbonde Itam in Itu Council of Akwa Ibom have benefitted from donations by Akwa Ibom Cross River States’ Association Netherlands.

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries on behalf of the donors, Mr. Mfon Effiong said Akwa Ibom and Cross River indigenes resident in the Netherlands sent him to the community.

Effiong said the gesture was borne out of sincere love the group had for the people during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-induced lockdown.

His words, “The donation came from indigenes of Akwa Ibom and Cross River resident in the Netherlands. We are very happy and grateful for their benevolence.”

Village Head of Ikot Mbonde Itam, Godfrey Akpan, thanked the group for the kind gesture, especially at this time of lockdown.

He urged other well-meaning Nigerians in the society to emulate the group and be of help to their communities in any little way, to alleviate the harsh economic situation people were passing through.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Idongesit Sunday, said that the donation came in good time, adding that the people had been lockdown for one month.
