Insecurity: It’s a Year Political Icon Was Kidnapped


24th February, 2019 will remain a remarkable day in Ute land and the families who were involved in the incident which thrown the land into confusion as gunmen who were claimed to be a suspected Fulani herdsmen abducted a political Icon, Dr. Jide Owoka while two others narrowly escaped.

It could be recalled that Dr. Jide Owoka who was in custody of his abductors for over 42 hours before his release after payment of certain million naira as ransom, was kidnapped in his Toyota Corolla Vehicle while traveling from his hometown to his station shortly after the February 23rd Presidential Election along Ute_Igboruwen (Operese) to Molege junction at about 3:30pm.

The release of Jide Owoka from the Den of the abductors, brought joy and happiness back to the inhabitant of the community that have been into confusion over his abduction.

Oluwaseun Ogunniyi in the Bush struggling finding his way back to the Community 2 hours after the incident in a Kidnap Scene at Ute_Igboruwen (Operese) to Molege junction at about 3:30pm on February 24th 2019, shortly after Presidential Election.

Oluwaseun Ogunniyi, a young journalist and entrepreneur who was also traveling in same car with the political Icon narrowly escaped sustaining with injuries, he further expressed displeasure over the alarming rate of insecurity in Nigeria.

He enjoined Nigerians, family and friends to join the entire Ute land and the family of the victim in thanksgiving as no calamity was recorded.

Dr. Jide Owoka is a top APC leader in Ose Local Government, he was described as young, ambitious, loyal, gentle and trustworthy political leader.
