The lawmaker representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the National Assembly Senator Solomon Adeola has retained his seat in the Nigerian Senate.
Adeola was first elected to the Senate on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.
He was declared the winner of the Lagos West Senatorial seat by the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Olumide Afolarin.
The APC Senator polled 323,817 votes, while the closest contestant Gbadebo Rhodes of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) polled 243,516 votes.
Adeola thanked his supporters for his return to the Senate.
“I’m glad and I appreciate everyone who contributed to the success of this election. Thank you Lagos West. This is our next level,” Adeola said in a tweet.
